Darjeeling

 Darjeeling

Darjeeling is a town in India's Bengal state, in the Himalayan foothills.
Once a summer resort for the British Raj elite, it remains the terminus of
the narrow-gauge Darjeeling Himalayan Railway, or "Toy Train", completed
in 1881. It's famed for the distinctive black tea grown on plantations that
dot its surrounding slopes. Its backdrop is Mt. Kanchenjunga, among the
world's highest peaks.

Why is Darjeeling so famous?
It is noted for its tea industry, its views of the world's third-highest mountain
Kanchenjunga, and the Darjeeling Himalayan Railways, a UNESCO world
Heritage Site.
While summer months from April to june are the ideal time to travel to
Darjeeling, some travellers including couples also prefer to visit the beautiful
town during winter months from October to December.

Darjeeling Tea Tourism

Popularly known as the "Mecca of tea", Darjeeling is leading in the area of
tea tourism. With 80 operational tea gardens, sprawling across acres of land,
darjeeling produces what is known as the "Champagne of tea". This place is
all about spending a few days in a sprawling tea garden, in a Bungalow that
was typically the residence of a former British tea planter. Located on top of
the hills amidst cool wind and misty weather.
